Is there checking allowed in the 3 on 3 league? No, Hat Trick Sports leagues are all NO checking.
What are the game rules? There is no offside or icing in 3v3 hockey. After a goal, all players on the scoring team must tag up at the center ice RED line.
Do you need a goalie? Yes, each team needs to have a goalie. Hat Trick Sports will have goalie pads available for use on a per game basis if needed. However, Mite 1 will not need a goalie.
We are short players, can we pick up players for our game? Yes, you are allowed to pick up players if you are short for a regular season game, provided they have a signed waiver with Hat Trick Sports. During the playoffs you may only use rostered players.
We need to change the time of a game, how do we do this? Game schedule changes are not permitted. If a team is unable to make their scheduled game, they forfeit that game and ice time and the opposing team will be allowed an hour of free ice. As a courtesy to the other team, please contact the Director of 3v3 if you are unable to make a scheduled game.
How many players can be on the roster/bench? A team may roster or have dress for a game a total of twelve (12) skaters and up to two (2) goalies.
What about coaches? 3v3 hockey is about non-structured fun for the kids. Coaches are not necessary, however, every team must have at least one person over the age of 18 (unless given prior consent by the league for a minor) on the bench for each game. Every person on the bench must have a signed waiver form on file with Hat Trick Sports from the current season.
What is the game length? Games are played in two twenty-five (25:00) minute halves, each running time, 25:20 for all Mite level games with automatic shift changes every 1:20. There will be a five (5:00) minute warm-up and and one (1:00) minute between periods.
The on-ice official gave me/my player a Game Misconduct. What happens now?
