The Competitive Edge Facility

The Competitive Edge facility is a high performance hockey training facility.  It features three main training areas each with its own fine-tuned protocol designed to either enhance a hockey player's capabilities, improve their habits, or both.

Station 1:  The Crossover Flywheel
The Crossover Flywheel is the World's first Crossover Skating Treadmill.  While it is focused on the techniques of forward and backward crossovers, it also trains balance, edge-control, knee bend, and extension in a way that dramatically enhances the overall skater.  Click on the picture above to view videos of the Crossover Flywheel in action.

Station 2:  The "Bullet" Skating Treadmill
Competitive Edge has partnered with a manufacturer to produce the world's next evolution in skating treadmill design.  The feature set you'll see with The Bullet will not be found elsewhere.  This includes full multitasking functionality.  The Bullet skating treadmill is installed on the Competitive Edge Training Floor at the Hat Trick Sports location.

Station 3:  The Synthetic Ice Skills Rink
On our Synthetic Ice Skills Rink we work on Shooting, Passing, Stickhandling, and even Skating.  We also combine those elements in many of our drills, which delivers a challenge toward the true essence of the game, multitasking.  Because all of this is done in skates, the training has a very strong transfer back to the ice.

A Typical Session
In a normal Competitive Edge Session, players will spend 30 minutes working on lateral agility skating on the Crossover Flywheel, 30 minutes working on straight away skating on the Bullet Treadmill and 30 minutes working on hand skills in the Synthetic Rink (our program allows a lot of flexibility to customize and focus, but this "normal" session gives you a good idea of a starting point from which we can customize)
.

A Fourth Area:  Hockey Specific Exercise
Our Hockey Specific Exercise is an age-differentiated protocol that builds the muscles (where age appropriate), balance, body control, and quickness that a hockey player needs to dominate.  It also features weight lifting equipment so players can develop raw strength when they reach the age where their body is ready to build muscle mass.
